Textile Postcards

Well the post cards due on 2-15 were finished this weekend. These last 21 cards were really fun since my creative juices were flowing. I have photos of my favorites. A couple of them could be enlarged to a wall hanging. which is the advantage of working out your ideas in a small scale. Then I made 8 out of 10 hats for cancer patients who lose their hair. A local hospital boutique asked me to make one as a sample and that turned into an order for 10. For me as a cancer patient - it was a pleasure. There are other projects in the works but now I am working full time and time is short. Between sewing and knitting right now I dont know which one I prefer.

So It's the New Year

It's been a while and I'm back. During the last two months my cancer surgery recovery has progressed well and the doctor released me on 12-2-2005. He has allowed me to drive and do a lot of things I use to do. Liberty and independence can be wonderful. My husband knew I would be out driving the next day and here he is asking how the bottom of my right foot feels " Can you put your foot down on the brake?" I started a tap dance on my right foot (where they had inserted a skin flap to cover the hole where the cancer was) There was no pain and the best part is the doctor said the cancer is gone (no therapy). So every day I push to be out and walk and regain my life, except for vacuuming cleaning. My husband has been a dear and he takes care of that. This teaches you to appreciate those little special things and the family.

I have completed- the landscape quilt-- Tunnel Beach- Kauia" and a baby quilt for Nicholas and a third quilt is nearly done--- name still pending-- about flags. For Christmas I knitted 8 scarves as gifts and after that I knitted one more with Noro yarn for me. Recently I have been learning how to knit socks on circular needles. So my time at home is split between quilting and knitting.

This year Christmas was held at my house and I gave the blessing. I have a lot to be thankful for. There is a guardian angel watching over me.

In addition there is a new web site in the works with the help of Gloria Hansen.

My plans this year include returning to work some desk job somewhere-- continuing designing and quilting new artistic projects and knitting. There are a couple of new projects in my head that start out with digital photographs of my own and then enlarged on an over head projector. It was purchased on ebay for $50 and it comes compact- the size of a large brief case. It utilizes transparency where I have traced the outline of the latest photo.

So I will be back. My latest knitting projects will come up too since I have fallen in love with the vibrant colors of wool.
